Water main break leaves Fort Salonga residents without water
Hundreds of homes in Fort Salonga are without water after a water main break flooded the area around Bread and Cheese Hollow Road and Fort Salonga Road, an official said Friday night.
Northport Fire Department Chief John McKenna said authorities from his department, Suffolk Water Authority, and Suffolk County Police were at the scene Friday night. On Saturday morning, crews were still at work.
Bread and Cheese Hollow Road still is closed at its intersection with 25A, although it is passable through a detour at a nearby shopping center.
McKenna said he was not sure of the cause of the break.
