Jacqueline Izzo is an award winner for her volunteerism, and all she can think about is how to add to those efforts.

The West Babylon High School senior's community service ranges from volunteering at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip to teaching dozens of children in a vacation Bible school at United Methodist Church of Babylon.

She was recognized with a President's Volunteer Service Award last month, based on her hundreds of hours of helping others.

"I do volunteer work, but I always feel like I should be doing even more," said Izzo, 18. Of being recognized, she said: "Volunteering is like an award in itself to me."

Izzo's other efforts include serving as a counselor at Quinipet Camp and Retreat Center on Shelter Island, where she oversees groups of about 15 children for two weeks each summer. In addition, she volunteers in a soup kitchen at the United Methodist Church of Babylon and collects toys each holiday season for the John Theissen Children's Foundation.

She is a member of her school's dance team, the Students Against Destructive Decisions Club, the Leaders Club and Spread the Word to End the Word.
