A West Babylon man was shot in the leg early Sunday after he tried to intervene in a fight near a Lindenhurst bar, Suffolk police said.

Calvin Grace, 33, was leaving Lefty's Bar with a friend at about 3:50 a.m. and walking to his car when he saw two people arguing with a third person on South 13th Street near West Hoffman Avenue.

The shooter, who fled the scene, was described as a 25-year-old man, 6-feet tall, with a shaved head and a medium build, wearing a white-collared shirt and a white hat. He had a black handgun.

Grace was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of his wound.
