West Babylon man wounded in shooting
A West Babylon man was shot in the leg early Sunday after he tried to intervene in a fight near a Lindenhurst bar, Suffolk police said.
Calvin Grace, 33, was leaving Lefty's Bar with a friend at about 3:50 a.m. and walking to his car when he saw two people arguing with a third person on South 13th Street near West Hoffman Avenue.
Grace's friend approached the group and tried to intervene, followed by Grace, who was then shot once in the leg by the man arguing with the two people, police said.
The shooter, who fled the scene, was described as a 25-year-old man, 6-feet tall, with a shaved head and a medium build, wearing a white-collared shirt and a white hat. He had a black handgun.
Grace was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of his wound.
