Westbound Sunrise Highway remained closed at Smithtown Avenue in Bohemia on Friday afternoon as investigators conducted an accident reconstruction, the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office said.

The road was supposed to reopen to traffic about 1:30 p.m., but investigators were not finished with their work, a spokeswoman said. She was not sure when the road would reopen.

Traffic was snarled east of the closure, with traffic diverted onto the service road for one exit at Smithtown Avenue. Eastbound traffic was unaffected by the closure.

Sheriffs did not say what accident was being investigated.
