2 injured in Northern State crash in Commack, cops say

An 18-year-old driver and her passenger were injured after their car hit a tree Tuesday night on the Northern State Parkway in Commack, State Police said Wednesday.
State Police spokesman Frank Bandiero said the driver, Kathleen Turcios, 18, of Westbury, and her passenger were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital after making “complaints of pain.”
Bandiero said the crash happened shortly after 11 p.m. while Turcios was driving a 2001 Acura eastbound on the parkway near Commack Road and “struck a tree for an unknown reason.”
