Man shot in Wyandanch by gunman in passing vehicle, cops say

A 19-year-old man was shot in the leg Monday afternoon as he walked along a street in Wyandanch by someone in what Suffolk police said was a dark-colored vehicle.

The Wheatley Heights man was walking on Lake Drive near Mount Avenue at about 5:15 p.m. when the vehicle pulled up next to him and a person inside opened fire, police said. The victim, identified as Leoford Murray, 19, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. Police said Monday night they had not identified a suspect.
