A Shirley woman was struck and killed near the William Floyd Parkway in Shirley on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County Police said.

The victim was identified as Margrit Friedrichs, 76.

Police said that about 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, a driver identified as Brian Engelman was traveling west on Roberts Road when he turned north onto the William Floyd with his 2008 Dodge Ram pickup and struck Friedrichs in the crosswalk.

Friedrichs was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the office of the Suffolk County medical examiner. Engelman stayed at the scene and was not injured, police said.

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the case. They ask anyone who witnessed the crash to call 631-852-8752.
