A Shirley man was killed Thursday evening when he was walking on Montauk Highway and was hit by two vehicles, Suffolk police said.
William Martin, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene in Shirley, near Bonny Drive, where he lives, police said.
He was hit by a westbound Dodge Caliber, then a Mercury Sable just after 5:20 p.m., leading to the partial shutdown on Montauk Highway, police said.
The Dodge driver, Therese Ardolino, 20, of Shirley, and the Mercury driver, Corrine Pennington, 28, of Mastic, remained at the scene. The drivers and Pennington’s two passengers were not injured, police said.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation by Seventh Precinct detectives continues, police said.
Martin was struck about six blocks from where an SUV hit and killed a bicyclist about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Shirley on Montauk Highway.
