Road reopens after car hits pole, brings down wires in West Babylon, cops say

A car crashed into a pole in West Babylon Monday morning, bringing wires down across the street and onto a FedEx truck, causing heavy delays on Route 109, Suffolk police said.
The crash occurred around 10:40 a.m. Images from the scene show a car that crashed into the pole and the truck ensnared in cables.
There were no reports of injuries.
The road was closed for hours in both directions on Route 109 between Beaver Lane and East Drive, police said. It reopened Monday afternoon, just before the evening rush hour.
The downed wires provide television, phone and internet service to Altice customers in the area. Service was disrupted for some residents, Altice spokeswoman Janet Meahan said.
"As soon as we became aware that service was impacted, we got a crew to the scene and they are making repairs," Meahan said.
