A Wyandanch teenager who pistol-whipped an attendant Wednesday during an alleged robbery of a Deer Park gas station was arrested after a witness gave First Precinct officers the license plate number of the suspect's car, Suffolk County police said.
Police said a witness gave officers the information shortly after suspect Henry Pierre, 18, of 100 S. 27th St., entered a Citgo Gas Station on Deer Park Avenue at around 8 p.m.
Pierre allegedly displayed what appeared to be a handgun and attempted to grab cash from the attendant. The two men struggled, and Pierre struck the attendant several times in the head with the gun, police said.
Police tracked the suspect to the address listed on the vehicle's registration and then found Pierre in the vehicle on a nearby street, according to a news release.
The attendant was treated and released for minor injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said.
Pierre is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip on a charge of first-degree robbery.
