A woman who wandered away from an assisted living facility in East Setauket on Monday was found about a mile away Tuesday -- on the grounds of a Suffolk County Water Authority tower, Suffolk police said.

Police said Elizabeth Anson, 78, was found at 11:08 a.m. She had last been seen Monday at 1:30 p.m., when she left the Sunrise Assisted Living Facility in East Setauket, headed for a local supermarket on Route 25A.

Police said Anson suffers from dementia and a Silver Alert was issued not long after she disappeared. It was not immediately known how Anson was found or how she had gotten onto the water tower property.

She was taken to a hospital for evaluation, police said.
