A female driver was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital after a car accident in Calverton on Sunday night.

Riverhead police officials said the woman was driving on Edwards Avenue in a small sedan when she struck a tree at about 8:50 p.m.

Authorities were investigating the crash late Sunday night, and did not immediately have information on the woman’s condition, or what may have caused the accident. There were no passengers in the car, police said.
