A 23-year-old West Babylon woman died Thursday morning after she was ejected from her vehicle during a crash in Lindenhurst, Suffolk police said.

AlyssaMarie Gerbasio likely was not wearing a seatbelt, said Det. Sgt. James Cullen of the 1st Precinct.

Police said a 17-year-old Lindenhurst woman driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty eastbound on 49th Street was attempting to cross Straight Path when her vehicle collided with Gerbasio’s 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Gerbasio’s vehicle was headed north on Straight Path when the accident happened about 7:12 a.m.

Gerbasio was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The teen driver, who was unnamed by police, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for evaluation. She was later released, police said.

Cullen said no criminality was suspected.

He said Straight Path was shut down in both directions until about 10 a.m.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and that anyone with information could call First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152.
