A Roslyn Heights woman was seriously injured when the driver of the car she was riding in crossed into oncoming traffic on Jericho Turnpike in Cold Spring Harbor Thursday and collided head-on with a van.
The driver of the car was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, Suffolk County police said.
George Filippone Jr., 39, of 12 Max Ave., Hicksville, was arrested and charged with DWAI and was scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Central Islip.
Police said Filippone was driving his 2006 Subaru east on Jericho Turnpike when he crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a 2008 Ford van being driven by Bruce Lesser, 53, of Franklin Square.
A Suffolk police helicopter took Carolyn Greenberg, 45, to Stony Brook University Medical Center following the crash at 1 p.m. She was admitted with broken ribs and a broken sternum, police said.
