A woman was injured in a single-car crash that closed County Road 83, North Ocean Avenue, in Farmingville for about an hour Wednesday.

The crash occurred at 9 a.m. on the southbound road just south of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Monument, Suffolk County police said.

The vehicle, a Ford Escape, went through a guardrail and rolled down what was described as a 50-foot embankment, landing on its roof.

The driver, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with what police called "nonlife-threatening injuries." The specific injuries were not known.

Police did not released the identity of the driver.
