A "highly intoxicated" woman who was "attempting to stop traffic" to get a ride just after midnight in Cutchogue faces charges after she kicked and spit at officers, police said Tuesday.

Maryanne Walsh, 36, of Cutchogue, was on Route 25 when officers attempted to arrest her on charges of disorderly conduct. She refused to place her hands behind her back, then kicked the officers and spit on them, police said.

The officers arrested Walsh, charging her with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and second-degree harassment. Arraignment details were not immediately available.
