Woman saved from overdose by Suffolk cop
A woman who overdosed on heroin in Center Moriches was saved Tuesday by a police officer who administered a drug to reverse the effects of the drug, Suffolk police said.
The officer responded to a call from a home on Bowditch Lane at 6:10 p.m., police said, and administered intranasal Narcan to an unresponsive woman, who then regained consciousness.
The 23-year-old woman was transported by ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, police said. Information concerning her condition was not immediately available.
The deployment of the prescription drug by Suffolk officers to reverse opiate overdoses is part of a New York State Health Department pilot program.
