Woman struck by car, killed in Selden
A 47-year-old woman was killed late Wednesday night when she was struck by a car as she attempted to cross Middle Country Road in Selden, police said.
The woman's identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Suffolk County police said the driver, who remained at the scene, has not been charged.
The accident occurred just east of College Road at 10:38 p.m., police said. Police said the woman was attempting to cross Middle Country Road, headed north, when she was fatally struck. Volunteers from the Selden Fire Department Rescue ambulance transported the woman to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where she died at 11:04 p.m., police said.
The vehicle involved in the crash was impounded for a safety check, police said.
The investigation is continuing.
