Suffolk detectives have arrested a Wyandanch man in connection with the Oct. 25 attack on a man who was shot in the shoulder.

Devon Matthews, 29, of N. 20th St., was charged on Friday with first-degree assault in the shooting of William Ballard, 35, of Wyandanch, who was shot in the shoulder at about 10:25 a.m.

Matthews' attorney could not be reached for comment.

First Precinct police officers responded to North 15th Street at about 10:25 a.m. "after a 911 caller reported a man had been shot," Suffolk County police said, adding that the shooting occurred near a Getty gas station on Straight Path near Merritt Avenue.

Ballard was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, but no information about his condition was available.
