A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday evening after a vehicle struck him in the afternoon as he rode an e-bike in Bethpage, the Nassau County Police Department said.
The teen was riding west about 2:53 p.m. on Sherman Avenue and crossing Seventh Street when he was struck by a 17-year-old driving a 2014 Dodge Ram, the Nassau police said.
The e-bike rider "suffered severe body trauma and was airlifted by a Nassau County Aviation Helicopter to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition," police said in a news release. The driver of the Dodge remained at the scene. Detectives are investigating the crash.
