1 HINDU LAMP CEREMONY

Aeilushi Mistry, born in India and now based in Brooklyn, is trained in Bharatanatyam,

a form of classical Indian dance. Tomorrow afternoon, she'll perform the traditional Aarti ceremony -- a Hindu lamp ceremony

"to convey gratitude and protection from mother river" -- at Brooklyn Bridge Park, where she'll be joined by guest artists. Visitors can decorate their own palm leaf lamps -- hand-painted areca leaf boats with candles -- and float them on the East River.

WHEN | WHERE 4 p.m. tomorrow at Empire Fulton Ferry, Brooklyn Bridge Park
