Ian Steinberg and Victoria Kaso, members of the Nassau County Democratic Committee, looked at the sea of signs being waved in the air around the mobile MSNBC stage at Hofstra University and they knew they needed a way to stand out.

So they ran into the campus bookstore, bought the biggest poster board they could find, and drew out their message: “Hi Mom."

"That's just to get the camera's attention,” said Steinberg, 28, of East Meadow and a Hofstra alumnus. “Then we'll flip it around.”

On the opposite side, the sign expressed his organization's support for President Barack Obama.

“We are going in front of the MSNBC stage to show support for President Obama, let him feel welcome here, and let him know New York is in strong support of the president,” Steinberg said.
