The Villanova-bound senior was again Long Island’s top distance runner, winning the Federation 1,500-meter title (the ninth Fed title of her career) and taking second in the 3,000-meter race. Her dominance went further than that as she won the 800-meter run against many of Long Island’s top runners in 2:09.35 at the St. Anthony’s Invitational, displaying her versatility. The senior then capped her high school career by winning the 1-mile national title at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals last weekend.
JOANNE IMBERT

Junior
Imbert was easily Long Island’s top high jumper this season. Her jump of 5 feet, 9 inches at the Nassau County state qualifier was the best in the state this season. She nearly matched that, winning the Federation title in the event with a leap of 5-8. She took eighth at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, clearing 5-6.
DONNA JEANTY
Brentwood
Senior
Jeanty emerged as Long Island’s top 400 hurdler, and backed it up by winning at the St. Anthony’s Invitational and the Federation championship in 59.01 seconds, which is the fastest time in the state and tied for fastest in the country. The University of Buffalo-bound senior took fifth at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, earning All-America status.

Junior
The Nassau-Suffolk and CHSAA Intersectional 800-meter champ, Mackay won the 800 Federation title in a state-best time of 2:07.75, overcoming at least a 20-meter deficit on the last lap. She followed that up with a second-place finish at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, earning All-America status.
MARLENE RICKETTS

Senior
The Penn State-bound senior set a state record in the triple jump (42 feet, 4 inches) and surpassed the 40-foot plateau several times this season. She won the NYSPHSAA Division state title in the triple jump. Ricketts followed up that performance at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals a week later with a second-place finish.
VANESSA STEWART
North Babylon
Senior
Long Island’s best shot putter, Stewart had a career season, winning the Federation shot put title with a toss of 47 feet. Stewart, a three-time outdoor Suffolk County champ, was also an accomplished discus thrower. She won the Suffolk qualifier and took second at the Federation.
CHARLES CUZZO
Girls Coach of the Year
Cuzzo has helped mold a talented group of girls into Long Island’s top relay program. In addition to capturing the Nassau 4x800 and 4x400 championships, the Trojans won the Federation 4x800 and 4x400 titles.
