LIZ WEBER
Long Island Player of the Year
Bay Shore
Pitcher, Senior
Weber went 17-1 with an 0.70 ERA, striking out 154 and walking just 14 with an 0.60 WHIP while leading Bay Shore to its seventh state championship. She hit .569 with four home runs, 42 runs scored, 13 doubles and 10 stolen bases. She led the team with 40 RBIs while batting leadoff. In the state finals, Weber pitched a two-hit shutout, and got 12 of her outs on the first pitch.

SAMANTHA GIOVANEILLO
Nassau Player of the Year
Floral Park
Pitcher, Sophomore
Giovaniello burst onto the scene in 2009 with a devastating curveball and slow-motion changeup, and she's only gotten better. She went 20-5, including 18 shutouts, with a 0.54 ERA and 328 strikeouts (106 in the playoffs). She also hit .561 with five homers, 28 RBIs, 23 runs, 14 walks and 10 stolen bases. After leading the Knights to a state Class A title as a freshman, she propelled them to the state semifinals this month. She struck out a career-high 28 in a 15-inning game against Plainedge in the county finals.

PATTI CALLAHAN
Carey
Pitcher/Outfielder, Senior
A three-time All-County selection, she went 10-3 with a 0.65 ERA and 146 strikeouts in leading Carey to the Class AA semifinals, where she didn't surrender an earned run. Callahan, who is headed to Geneseo, also batted .384 with 17 RBIs. She threw an 11-inning no-hitter with 20 strikeouts and had a 15-inning, 26-strikeout performance this season.

SAMANTHA CAPOBIANCO
Glenn
Third base, Senior
Capobianco led Long Island with 12 home runs, homering in five straight games twice. She had a .574 batting average, 1.426 slugging percentage and of her 31 hits, 20 were for extra bases. She hit for the cycle on April 14, going 4-for-4 with five runs and five RBIs and will attend SUNY-Plattsburgh in the fall.

SABELLA CORRAO
Farmingdale
Pitcher, Junior
After leading St. Dominic to the CHSAA final in 2009, she transferred and immediately elevated Farmingdale. The Dalers jumped from Conference III to I and Corrao led them to the Class AA semifinals. A three-time All-Long Island selection, she had a 0.86 ERA, 251 strikeouts, pitched two no-hitters and four one-hitters. She also batted .415 with two homers, a .652 OBP, and walked five times in the semifinal.

KAITLYN CROWLEY
St. John the Baptist
Catcher, Senior
Crowley was named the CHSAA player of the year after hitting .485 with 12 doubles. Her good stick and strong arm behind the plate helped St. John the Baptist to a third straight CHSAA title, the program’s fifth in six years. Crowley slugged .755 on the year with four triples and will attend Queens College.

MICHELLE DAUBMAN
Plainedge
Pitcher/Shortstop, Junior
A two-time All-Long Islander, she hit .506 with three homers, 18 stolen bases and a .740 slugging percentage. Perhaps more impressive was her performance in the circle where she went 15-6 with a 0.74 ERA and 211 strikeouts. Daubman fanned a career-high 20 in a 15-inning endurance match in the Class A finals.

SYDNEY FOLK
Long Beach
Catcher, Senior
The Ithaca-bound senior batted .444 with 15 RBIs and was a standout behind the plate for the Marines, allowing just five stolen bases. Known for her leadership and clutch hitting, the two-time All-Long Island and 2009 All-State selection led Long Beach to the Class AA quarterfinals this season after winning a Nassau title last year.

CAT FRANZONE
Bay Shore
Centerfield, Senior
Franzone hit .531 with a team-high .951 slugging percentage, team-high six home runs and had 39 RBIs. She walked (15 times) three times as much as she struck out (five times). On April 23, Franzone went 3-for-4 with seven RBIs and a career-high three home runs against Floyd.

NICOLE HAGENAH
Commack
Shortstop, Senior
Hagenah hit .655 with a 1.207 slugging percentage on her way to being named the Large Schools player of the year by the Suffolk coaches association. She scored 35 runs, drove in 32, had seven homers, three triples and five doubles. She walked 17 times and didn’t strike out all season. She’ll attend C.W. Post.

CATHERINE HAVENS
Eastport-South Manor
Pitcher, Junior
Havens’ pitching and prowess as a leadoff hitter earned Eastport-South Manor its first Suffolk Class A title. She pitched 120 innings, striking out 160 and walking 25. She had a 13-5 record, 0.68 ERA, nine shutouts and three no-hitters (one perfect game). She batted .458 with 23 runs scored.

LINDSAY McKILLOP
East Meadow
Pitcher, Senior
The Stonehill-bound senior capped a stellar career by leading the Jets to their first county title since 1994. McKillop, a four-time All-County and three-time All-Long Island selection, was named Nassau's Pitcher of the Year after going 16-2 with a 0.52 ERA and 117 strikeouts. She also batted third in the Jets’ potent lineup, hitting .500 with 20 RBIs.

LINDSAY MONTEMARANO
Seaford
Third base, Freshman
Batting leadoff for much of the season, she hit .600 with a .651 on-base percentage, 22 RBIs, 26 runs and tied for the county lead with eight homers. She helped lead the Vikings to the Class A semifinals, where she walked twice. Regarded by several coaches as a defensive whiz, Montemarano is also a hard-throwing pitcher.

COLLEEN SMITH
East Islip
First base, Senior
Smith batted .646 with a .712 on-base percentage for an East Islip team that mashed its way through the regular season. The Hofstra-bound Smith had seven home runs, five doubles, scored 37 runs and drove in 36. She stole three bases and walked 18 times, striking out on just seven occasions.

JIM McGOWAN
Suffolk Coach of the Year
Bay Shore
McGowan led Bay Shore to its seventh state title and first since 2005. Under his leadership the program has 10 Long Island Championships, 12 Suffolk titles and 28 consecutive postseason appearances.

CINDY MCCARTHY
Nassau Coach of the Year
East Meadow
The second-year head coach led East Meadow to an 18-2 record in Nassau's toughest conference and captured the program's first Class AA county title since 1994.
