$250G in grant funds available for capital projects
Suffolk County is now accepting applications for $250,000 in available downtown revitalization grant money.
The funds are available to organizations such as chambers of commerce, civic associations and business improvement districts that can partner with a local municipality. Eligible projects — which must be “capital in nature” and enhance economic activity — include curb and sidewalk improvements, street lighting and building facade refurbishment.
“Providing grant funding through this program encourages local organizations to partner with their municipality and find ways to enhance public lands, improve the vitality of business districts and contribute to walkable communities and bustling downtowns,” County Executive Steve Bellone said.
Suffolk’s Downtown Revitalization Citizens Advisory Panel will judge applicants and award the money. Applications are due by 4 p.m. June 14.
