3 workers hurt in NYC roof collapse

A roof collapse inside the former Touro College building in Murray Hill injured three construction workers Tuesday.

Firefighters said the accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. when the men were doing renovations on the third floor of the landmark building on Lexington Avenue and 30th Street.

A fire department spokesman said the ceiling gave way and landed on the men, who were working on a scaffold.

Two of the workers were able to get out of the rubble, with one suffering a head wound, according to the FDNY. Firefighters were able to pull out the third worker, who didn't lose consciousness.

The workers were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. The two who suffered the most serious injuries were listed in stable condition.
