The state has announced it will administer $30 million for two flood recovery grant programs for Tropical Storm Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.
The first one, worth $21 million, will be administered by Empire State Development and will provide grants of up to $20,000 for eligible small businesses, farms, multiple dwellings and nonprofits that sustained flood-related damage.
More information can be obtained by calling 518-292-5340 or emailing floodrecovery@esd.ny.gov. The application deadline is March 16.
The $9-million grant is for counties, which can get a grant of $300,000 to $500,000 for the planning, design and implementation of eligible projects, such as stream debris removal, gravel removal in or directly around bridges and culverts, stream bank stabilization and restoration, and culvert replacement.
Applications must be submitted by April 11.
For more information call 518-402-9395.
This funding also can be used as a nonfederal match to the federal Natural Resources Conservation Service Emergency Watershed Protection Program.
