$5M changes weighed for sewer plant plan
During a hearing the Belgrave Water Pollution Control District in Great Neck will consider changes to an existing expansion of its plant that would increase project costs by more than $5 million.
The additional work would bring the district’s wastewater treatment plant in compliance with state-mandated nitrogen targets that go into effect in 2014, district superintendent Chester Steban said.
The changes would increase the project’s cost from $9.8 million to nearly $15.2 million. A $4.1 million Clean Water Clean Air Act grant will help offset costs to taxpayers, Steban said.
