The Brookhaven town council on Tuesday night unanimously passed a series of bond resolutions totaling more than $6.3 million for townwide improvement projects and equipment purchases.

The council, in a 7-0 decision, voted to spend $2.8 million for stormwater and drainage improvements.

It also approved a bond for $1.2 million for purchasing and installing communication equipment for town government phones, including connections and patchwork for outdated switches.

Buying and installing equipment for a new townwide radio system resulted in a $1 million bond.

Officials also approved an $825,000 bond for a new wood chipper for the Yaphank landfill; the old one, they said is out of compliance with emission standards.

And a $500,000 bond will cover buying and installing equipment for the town clerk’s scanning initiative for old paper records.

Town officials say the routine bond resolutions were bundled because the council is not scheduled to meet again until Sept. 10.
