Aaron Glenn could tell from his exit meeting with then-rookie Armand Membou that the young right tackle would return for OTAs and training camp “stone-faced and ready to go.” Glenn was pleased to say he was right.

Membou came back “on a mission," Glenn said. ". . . You saw it in his face. It was no [expletive] to him. Everything was a business approach.”

Membou was motivated by the Jets’ overall performance last season. They were 3-14 and mostly not competitive.

“What happened last year, I feel like we can't have that happen again,” Membou said. “We got to make things change, create change.”

Membou’s mindset was to put in the work to “make sure I can make a jump my second year.”

He and Jets left tackle Olu Fashanu trained together in Texas during the offseason with Duke Manyweather, a noted offensive line developer and founder of OL Masterminds Summit.

Membou thought he played “solid” as a rookie. He said he needs to be “way more consistent if I want to go to a place where I want to go.”

Where’s that? Membou said he wants to earn the respect of his peers and “become a top tackle.”

“I feel like if I'm able to do my part, just help my team, and we're able to get that team success it’s going to showcase other great players we have,” Membou said.

Glenn expects “a lot” from Membou this season. He has been impressive over the last three practices of camp blocking rookie edge rusher David Bailey.
