Traffic on the Long Island Expressway builds up after an accident near Exit 49. (Jan. 6, 2011) Credit: Newsday.com

A multiple-vehicle accident involving an overturned truck backed up traffic on the Long Island Expressway this morning, according to traffic cameras on the Department of Transportation's website.

The accident occurred at 8:45 a.m. in the eastbound HOV lane, according to the website.

The camera at Half Hollow Road shows another vehicle behind the truck with damage to its front end. More cameras showed heavy traffic between Exits 48 and 51.
