Actor Jeff Daniels, star of stage and screen and the HBO series "The Newsroom," sang "God Bless America" during the seventh-inning stretch.
Daniels, who grew up in Chelsea, Mich., was wearing a Tigers hat and jacket as he practiced before the game. He called his fandom "borderline religious . . . like get some therapy for it."
Daniels said he has a custom-made rug in his RV that says "Al Kaline is my god."
"It -- -- off the Yankees fans on my crew," he said.
Daniels also revealed that he has a unique way of keeping up with the Tigers on the set of "The Newsroom," on which he plays a news anchor.
"I'll get punished for this," he said. "But during 'Newsroom,' there are scenes that I know that under my desk is an iPad with the Tigers playing the Royals on April 12. Muted. I try not to let the show get in the way of the game."
