A new recovery center is set to come to Long Island to help people trying to overcome heroin and opioid addiction.

Family & Children's Association in Mineola is one of six organizations statewide that will split $10.5 million in state funding to open the recovery centers.

The group will join three other substance abuse treatment organizations on Long Island to oversee the facility offering counseling, emotional support and career resources to those battling substance abuse.

An exact location has not been selected yet, but officials say they are targeting St. Peters in Huntington Station.
