Student
speaker
Felicia Singh, president of the Class of 2011, received a bachelor's degree in English. She told the students: "Maybe the idea of changing the world looks and sounds overwhelming. Maybe not everyone will build a school in an impoverished country or find the cure for a deadly disease, but if each one of us simply helps the person sitting next to them, then aren't we in the process of creating change in the world?"
Commencement address
Adelphi University president Robert A. Scott told the graduates:
"You are set apart from others now and we celebrate you today. The world needs you to keep growing, to build on the magnificent foundation you have begun, to maintain your optimism, and to explore your special gifts for the good of family, community and humanity through basic acts such as volunteering and voting, and grander acts of commitment for bettering the lot of others."
