Insurgent Timothy Wu is trying to turn an endorsement for his opponent, Kathy Hochul, on its ear in their Democratic primary for lieutenant governor.

U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) endorsed Hochul, the former Buffalo congresswoman and Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's running mate, hailing her "principled and pragmatic leadership." But Wu, running mate of gubernatorial candidate Zephyr Teachout, used the event to remind liberals Hochul was endorsed by the National Rifle Association and opposed issuing driver's licenses without regard to immigration status. "I hold great respect for Congresswoman Pelosi. Unfortunately, Kathy Hochul's record on immigration and gun safety is more aligned with Republican Speaker [John] Boehner," Wu said.
