A mobile shredder truck will be available in Amityville Saturday for residents to shred paperwork and personal documents.

The shredding can be watched on an in-truck video feed, said Joan Donnison of the Bay Village Civic Association, which is sponsoring the event.

For a fee of $10, each household can shred up to three bags or boxes worth of paper.

All the shredded material will be recycled, Donnison said.

According to Quality Shredding, the company doing the shredding, every ton of recycled shredded paper saves 17 trees, two barrels of oil, 4,100 kilowatts of energy, 3.2 cubic yards of landfill and 60 pounds of particulate air pollution.

The event will be from noon until 3 p.m. at the 9/11 Memorial Park in the village.
