The Amityville Farmers Market will open for the season Friday afternoon at the 9/11 Memorial Park on Broadway just south of the railroad tracks.

The market will be open from 2 to 7 p.m. Fridays through Labor Day.

Jaime Greci, of G&G Long Island Farmers Market, said the vendor roster will include organic farmers Vince Cirasole of Sunshine Farms in Copiague and, soon, Amityville’s own Skip Wade, whose Old Westbury farm is Nassau County’s largest.

The market is sponsored by the Bay Village Civic Association, with help from the Amityville Chamber of Commerce, said Joan Donnison, civic association president.

The Long Island Growers Market, which operated Saturdays last year, has moved to Massapequa, Donnison said. “We didn’t hear from them until March, when we found out they’d been enticed by the Westfield Sunrise Mall,” she said.
