Amityville woman held in shoplift incident
Police said she "concealed" merchandise and exited the Macy's at Sunrise Mall in East Massapequa without paying for it.
Now, after a struggle with store security, Seannette Wint, 22, of Locust Drive, Amityville, is under arrest - charged with robbery and possession of a weapon. She is scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court, Hempstead.
Nassau County police said the incident took place at 5:15 p.m. Sunday when Wint walked out of the Macy's with items valued at $173.97 concealed in her clothing. When the security officers attempted to apprehend Wint, police said, the woman struck one officer in the head and face with a cell phone.
The security officer was taken to a hospital for treatment of bruises on her neck and face and a cut on her lip that required stitches.
Police did not give details of the stolen items.
