Originally operating as a lending library of 67 books inside a resident's home, the Amityville Public Library is now home to thousands of books, DVDs and CDs. In 1907, the library received a charter from New York state to be named the Amityville Free Library until 1957, when it became an official public library. (June 5, 2011) Credit: Alexi Knock
