Andrew Ku, Huntington High School, October Scholar Artist Winner
Andrew Ku, a Huntington High School senior, started learning cello in the fourth grade. He won third place in the 2008 New York Music Competition. He was Assistant Principal Cellist for the Long Island String Festival Association and the Suffolk County Music Educators Association for the 2008 - 2009 season, and garnered an Honorable Mention at the 2010 CW Post Chamber Music Festival. He is currently the principal cellist of the Huntington High School Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra. Along with three of his friends, Andrew formed The Huntington Low Strings Quartet. They have performed at school and community functions, including the Huntington Foundation for Excellence in Education Annual Gala.
Andrew is a member of the National, Tri-M, Math, Science, English and French Honor Societies and was recently named a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist.. Andrew plans to major in science and minor in music in college
