A day-long event aimed at promoting pit bull awareness, adoption and welfare will be held Saturday.

The second annual Bully Breed Brigade, sponsored by the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and Last Hope Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc., will be held at the shelter, on 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will also feature a Pit Parade of “Ambassadors” from Long Island animal shelters and rescue groups, organizers said. Activities also include an adoption fair, holistic experts, vendors, trainers and breed advocates.

Returning to the event is Tia Torres of the Animal Planet television show “Pit Bulls and Parolees,” which documents the day-to-day operations of one of the nation’s largest pit bull animal shelter, the Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans.

For more information, call the shelter at 516-785-5220 or visit www.toh.li/animal-shelter.
