A Selden man was arraigned today on charges of driving high on drugs with a suspended license after police say he crashed his truck into a home, which ignited a fire.

Police say 35-year-old Anthony Capuano crashed his pickup truck into 4 Choate Ave. at around 7:15 p.m. last night. The fire started after the crash severed a natural gas line.

The home belongs to Michael Cosgrove, a Selden firefighter who responded to the call. His wife and two children were inside at the time of the fire, but they managed to get out safely.

"Usually I show up to someone else's nightmare, and it's hard when you show up to your own," Cosgrove says.

The judge set Capuano's bail at $20,000.

Capuano's attorney says his client is remorseful and grateful that no one in the home was hurt. He says it was nothing more than an accident.
