Anthony Papa, 83, died June 1, 2013, in Scarsdale.

Born Aug. 11, 1929, he was a Korean War veteran, according to Westchester Funeral Home, which handled his funeral arrangements and published his obituary. He enlisted July 1, 1948, and was discharged July 1, 1952, with the rank of staff sergeant. He served in the U.S. Army's 934th Signal Battalion. After the Korean War broke out in June 1950 he was flown into Korea in July 1950 and served there for 18 months. He was awarded four Campaign Stars as well as a Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea Unit Citation.

Papa owned Promotional Mailing Services, a printing business in White Plains, for more than 30 years. He was an active and loyal member of the VFW Chapter 2285 in Eastchester, The Masons, The Italian American Club, Italian Cultural Center, WCC Italian Club and Generoso Pope Foundation.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, who died in 2004, a brother, James, and a sister, Eleanor, who died in 2010.

He is survived by a daughter, Michele Curran; six grandchildren, Melissa, Larry and Kristen Curran, Sean and Jill Curran and Rebecca; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Madelyn and Ian; his companion, Jean Savanello; and 11 nieces and nephews, Dana Vedovato, James and Lynn Papa, Tonia and Pat Gallo, LuAnn and Bruce Capua, Joyce and Jack Youngs, and Luana and Michael Dunn.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated June 5 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
