Anthony Service relieves Trent Crossan, leads Sachem North to win

After Trent Crossan went down with an ankle sprain with six minutes left to play in the first quarter, Sachem North backup quarterback Anthony Service went 3-for-3 passing for 108 yards and a touchdown to lead the Flaming Arrows to a 49-32 victory yesterday over Longwood in Suffolk I.

Service also rushed for 40 yards on 12 carries and a score. Crossan didn't return and is listed as "day-to-day," North coach David Falco said. Malik Pierre's 46-yard interception return for a touchdown gave the Flaming Arrows (3-0) a 21-6 lead at halftime. Pierre had 15 carries for 182 yards and a score. Sachem North rushed for 532 yards. Dashawn Taylor's two 30-yard TD runs in the second half led Longwood (1-2).Brentwood 18, Ward Melville 13: Lavalle Hall's 28-yard scamper down the right sideline set up a 1-yard TD with 25 seconds left for Indians. The score capped a 65-yard drive, lasting two minutes. Hall ran for 148 yards and three TDs in the win. Ward Melville took a 13-12 lead on Mike Troy's 1-yard scoring run with 1:29 left in the third quarter. Kyle Dempsey ran for 202 yards on 26 carries. Matt Anthony made 10 tackles, including two sacks and one tackle for a loss to lead Brentwood (1-2).

Commack 35, Half Hollow Hills East 7: Willy Monroy ran for 142 yards and four TDs on 19 carries to lead Commack (3-0) over Hills East (0-3). After Kamal Williams ran 99 yards on the kickoff after halftime for Hills East, Commack had a five-play scoring drive, capped by Matthew Recek's 62-yard TD catch. Connetquot 55, Lindenhurst 20: Eddie Morris' 37-yard INT return and Tyler Nason's 71-yard TD catch in the final minutes of the first half gave Connetquot (2-1) a 35-0 halftime lead. Mike Ansaldi hit the quarterback and forced a bad throw that floated right to Morris, who ran in an easy score. Connetquot accumulated 539 yards of total offense. Lindenhurst is 0-3.Patchogue-Medford 31, Floyd 7: Dom Cassella caught a swing pass on his own 44 and ran 56 yards for a score to give PM a 28-7 lead with 6:30 left in the third quarter. Earlier in the game, Cassella caught a 5-yard scoring pass to give the Raiders (2-1) a 14-7 halftime lead.
