I'm going with "Applause" as the title for these, at least for now. And, yes, it's a sutble reference to the song. But it works for this... I think. As always, hit me @StephenHaynes4 or via e-mail with any suggestions, nominations or random whatevers. And a sound salute to this week's POTWs.

Emily DeGennaro, Shoreham-Wading River: She made 22 saves in the Wildcats' 1-0 overtime upset of Miller Place last Saturday. It was the first time Shoreham-Wading River had beaten Miller Place since Oct. 6, 2011 (that was also a 1-0 victory).

Jamie Ahrens, Massapequa: The senior has been on an offensive tear of late. She had three goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over East Meadow last Monday and dished two assists in their win over Great Neck South on Friday. She had a goal and an assist in Monday’s 2-1 win over Friends Academy. She assisted Gabby Curtis’ tying goal, then scored the winner on a penalty stroke in overtime.

Kelsey Catalano, Ward Melville: The midfielder scored in a shootout to help the Patriots edge Northport, 1-0, last Tuesday, and she assisted Sam Torrico's goal in a 1-0 victory over Lindenhurst on Friday.

Cara Trombetta, Sachem East: The sophomore scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Bay Shore last Tuesday – a rematch of last year's county final, in which she also scored. She also had a goal and two assists in a win over Whitman, and scored in Monday’s 1-0 win over rival Ward Melville.

Chelsea Machamie, Port Washington: She had a goal and assisted Jina Lay’s overtime winner in a 4-3 victory over Oyster Bay, and she scored twice in a 4-1 win over Great Neck South.

Justine DeLuca, West Islip: She had three goals in a 5-0 win over Centereach. That’s relatively impressive on its own, right? Then throw in the three goals she scored before that against Smithtown West. And, going back a little farther, she had three assists against Newfield.

Kristin Roberto, Miller Place: A speedy, aggressive and disruptive defender, she has helped anchor a Panthers unit that has allowed 0.5 goals per game. That defense has been key in Miller Place starting 9-1.

Marina Abbatiello, Clarke: Hats off! She had two hat tricks last week, scoring three goals against Seaford and Great Neck North, helping the Rams improve to 9-0.

Kyra Harney, Bay Shore: She helped account for all of her teams' goals, scoring three and assisting on two others, in the Marauders' 5-0 win over Whitman last Monday. Harney also scored twice against Sachem North on Thursday.

Lydia Rice, Carle Place: The second-year starter made 36 saves with a .947 save percentage in three games last week and Carle Place, quietly, has won four straight games.
