Cole Fitter, 27, of East Quogue, had taken the train to Ronkonkoma early Tuesday afternoon after visiting a friend in Pittsburgh.

“I knew there was gonna be snow, I didn't know it was blizzard category,” Fitter said.

Fitter said while his Amtrak train had been stopped at one point on Monday on its way from Pittsburgh to New York City, he wasn’t sure if it was weather-related and was not concerned.

Since he doesn’t have to return to work until Wednesday, Fitter, a barista, said he is excited to see and do activities in the snow.

“I can get to go snowshoeing and ... see about getting into nature and seeing all this beautiful snow,” he said.
