Asharoken shows plans for new village hall
Asharoken officials unveiled plans for a new village hall at Monday’s Village Board meeting.
The 3,831-square-foot building, designed by Huntington-based Hoffman-Grayson Architects, includes a 50-seat courtroom that can double as an all-purpose room, expanded village business offices, and a wing for the village police department that includes a holding cell. The plan also includes a 20-space parking lot.
The village received a preliminary cost estimate of “$800,000 or less” for the building from a construction firm on Monday, Mayor Patricia Irving said. The building would be constructed next to the current village hall.
So far, the village has raised about $172,000 for the project through donations from the public. Irving said the village hopes to apply for federal stimulus funds for the rest of the money.
