A project designed to reduce stormwater runoff on Asharoken Avenue has been completed, Asharoken officials said.

The stormwater catch basin project, located off Asharoken Avenue north of Bevin Road, should reduce flooding on Asharoken Avenue and reduce the amount of stormwater runoff, road contaminants and other material that ends up in the bay, officials said.

The project was funded with a $100,000 grant from the state Department of Environmental Conservation, although Mayor Pat Irving said the project was completed for just under $97,000. The rest of the money will remain with the state.

The project was completed last month.
