Ashley Lynch has five goals, three assists as Cold Spring Harbor reaches 'C' final

At some point, Kate Kotowski will offer words of consolation to her older sister. She will . . . at some point.

"She's gonna hear a good amount of trash talk at dinner," the Cold Spring Harbor freshman said with a grin, referring to Victoria Kotowski, a Friends Academy assistant coach. The two hugged afterward, but . . . "She walked over before the game and I pushed her away. It's all business."

The Seahawks were all business Thursday as Ashley Lynch had five goals and three assists to lead No. 1 Cold Spring Harbor over the fourth-seeded Quakers, 17-3, in a Nassau Class C girls lacrosse semifinal.

Tara Atkinson and Sam DeBellis each scored four goals and Haley Crosson made five saves for the Seahawks (11-5), who advance to the final for a third straight season, seeking their first Nassau championship since 1993.

"We've done this before and haven't gotten the title yet," said midfielder Holly Logan, who had a goal and an assist. "We're on a mission and this was another step."

Caroline Kiernan anchored the defense and dominated the draw for Cold Spring Harbor, and Lynch's fourth goal put them up 9-0 with 11:33 left in the first half. "We've got to finish and finally get that title this year," Lynch said. "It's been too long."

Alexa Landow scored twice for Friends Academy (3-13). Victoria Kotowski was an All-American at Cold Spring Harbor, but for now, Kate, who had a goal and an assist, has the bragging rights.
