Audiovox of Hauppauge buys Florida entertainment system maker
Audiovox Corp., a Hauppauge-based supplier of consumer electronics systems, said Tuesday that it has bought a Florida manufacturer of rear-seat entertainment systems.
The purchased company is Invision Industries Inc., of Celebration, Fla. It makes DVD players and screens for vehicles, with models that mount on seat headrests, overhead and on consoles.
"One of the strengths of Invision and one of the elements that made them a particularly attractive acquisition was their history of strong relationships with some of the world's leading carmakers, Audiovox president and chief executive Patrick Lavelle said in a statement.
"We expect to take full advantage of the improvements in the automotive sector that have been projected for the coming year," Lavelle said.
Invision will continue to operate out of its existing facilities in Florida.
